![]() Carolyn "Corey" Jarin - Founder Craig Olsen - Director Naturalist. Craig was hired as the Director Naturalist in March 2006 following the retirement of Founder Carolyn Corey Jarin. Previous to this he was the Assistant Naturalist at Peace Valley Nature Center for 16 years. His goal is to nurture the continued growth of this progressive, dynamic nature center. He has numerous administrative responsibilities, manages the property, co-directs the 10K race fundfaiser and handles a multitude of other tasks. Craig's greatest passion is teaching school children and the general public about the wonders of nature. He hopes to see you at a nature center program soon. Louise Lehman - Store Manager Louise has worked with the Friends of Peace Valley Nature Center for twenty years. She began as a volunteer and took on additional responsibilities through the years as the Friend's organization grew. . In 2006 she took the position of Sunflower Shop manager. In this capacity she enjoys greeting the public, interacting with the volunteer shopkeepers, and ordering books, feeders, gifts, etc. for our store. Gail Hill - Environmental Education Director Gail has the privilege and pleasure of teaching enthusiastic, energetic and inquisitive children and adults; working with and teaching very talented and knowledgeable Teacher Naturalists and interns. "To teach in our outdoor classroom is a wonderful and magical experience. Each day brings a bevy of new discoveries and knowledge to be shared. To see and be part of the WOW! in a child's face as they discover the wonders of our world is the most rewarding experience I can imagine." Kathleen Everitt A resident of Doylestown, Kathleen is very active in the community. She serves as a den Leader for Cub Scout Pack 71 and is involved with Boy Scout Troop 52. She is a key volunteer for Kutz Elementary School as a member of the Book Fair Committee and Spring Fair. Many folks may recognize her from her years of substitute teaching in Central Bucks School District. She has years of experience as a bookkeeper and is a welcome addition to our staff. Carolyn Schaupp - Assistant Bookkeeper Carolyn was introduced to Peace Valley Nature Center over 12 years ago by her daughter who was attending a summer nature program. Carolyn's love of nature and the outdoors prompted her to volunteer and for the past five years she has been the assistant bookkeeper for the Friends of Peace Valley Nature Center. Mary Jo Lisewski Mary Jo served as an intern at the nature center in the spring of 2007. She was planning on going into the classroom as a teacher but her experiences at the nature center allowed her to realize her enthusiasm for teaching in an outdoor classroom. After her internship ended, she continued to teach at the nature center and enthusiastically accepted when offered a full-time position. She appreciates the environment of learning at the nature center which continuously helps her increase her knowledge of and ardor for the natural world. She believes that the inquisitive, hands-on approach of Peace Valley's education programs allow students to be their own best teachers and she is grateful for the opportunity to foster and encourage this growth and learning in students. |
