When Kelly moved to Bucks County from Chicago in 2014, she immediately adopted Peace Valley Park as an extension of her own backyard. A life-long birder and native plant advocate, the park became her year-round sanctuary. She earned her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in environmental education from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Education and Interpretation from Northeastern Illinois University. She spent the better part of her childhood exploring the wonders of the natural world and has made a rewarding career fostering that sense of wonder in her students and her staff.

Kirstyn grew up just a few minutes from the park, and some of her favorite childhood memories took place right here in peace valley. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in Urban Studies and Environmental Studies, focusing on community outreach and nonprofit management. She spent her college years working for the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, organizing to promote local sustainable agriculture, and camping with friends on the weekends. After college, Kirstyn’s curiosity and love of landscapes brought her all over the country while she explored farming, environmental education, sustainable living, and so much more. She eventually found herself back to her first home, where she’s excited to inspire a respect and understanding of the natural world.
