Cancellation Policy

A full refund will be issued to any participant who cancels a minimum of 48 hours in advance, and to all participants in the event the program is cancelled by PVNC. Please make every effort to attend events you have registered for.

If you cannot attend, please contact the Nature Center so we can allow someone else to take your place.

All programs are subject to cancellation due to weather conditions, unless specified otherwise.

WEDNESDAY WALK ABOUT

Take a walkabout in nature with us! This series is for adults who want to stay active and expand their knowledge of the natural world. Each week has a unique theme, which we'll explore through an educational hike.

Thursday February 9th: 2pm - 3pm

Age: All Ages (minors must be accompanied by an adult)

Bring your sketch pad and favorite drawing materials. We will meet for a short drawing demonstration and then find an interesting spot around the Nature Center to independently create nature sketches. At the end of the session, we will share our sketches with the group for an informal critique. Come prepared to draw outside. All levels of experience are welcome.

We all know that spending time in nature can help relieve stress and anxiety, improve your mood and boost feelings of happiness and well-being. But did you know that knitting (and crocheting) can lower heart rate and blood pressure and reduce harmful blood levels of stress hormones? Join us as we explore the benefits of knitting surrounded by the beauty of nature. The group is open to all skill levels, including newer knitters who need help reading patterns, choosing yarns, needles etc. and beginners who have never knitted before. We can make recommendations for patterns and locally sourced supplies to help you on your knitting journey. We don't want to exclude our community of crocheters! You are welcome! Our group leaders have only limited experience in crochet but we are willing to learn any new fiber related skill. These are open sessions, no pre-registration necessary. Limited to adults and children 14 and over.

MAPLE SUGARING CELEBRATION

Age: All Ages (minors must be accompanied by an adult) (no unaccompanied minors)

Bring family and friends or come as a group and experience the way maple sugar was collected and made during the pioneer days. We will travel to the sugar bush to bring back some maple sap for the addition to the boiling pot of soon-to-be syrup.

Meet outside the PVNC Visitors’ Center at 8:00 am to begin your walk. This free event is open to ages 15 and up, and all experience levels are welcome!

NATURE DISCOVERY DAY - SPRING INTO NATURE

Join us for Discovery Day, a free, family-friendly event where young explorers ages 3–12 can learn about nature in spring through fun activities and hands-on exploration. Children and their guardians are welcome to embark on a self-guided nature scavenger hunt with our themed checklist or simply enjoy the trails at their own pace.

NATURALIST'S DIGITAL TOOLBOX

Wednesday, March 26th: 7pm - 8pm

This workshop is all about using technology to elevate our experience in the woods. We will learn how to use a few identification apps, download them together, and hit the trail to begin using them. We’ll also go over some excellent resources for independent learning online. If you’re looking to expand your knowledge of local flora and fauna, this is the class for you!

YOGA FOR KIDS

Wednesday, March 26th: 7pm - 8pm

Introduce your family to a love of nature and yoga with an energetic, themed class full of kids yoga poses, songs, games, crafts and stories. Children will come away with age-appropriate breathing and mindfulness techniques and lots of fun yoga poses to practice at home. Class is geared to ages 2-5 but siblings are welcome. Please bring a yoga mat or towel. Held outdoors in the pavilion by the Nature Center or inside the Nature Center depending on weather.  No registration necessary. Suggested donation: $10.00 per family.

Join us for an engaging program offered by Aark Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center featuring a live showcase of Pennsylvania’s native wildlife, including birds of prey, snakes, turtles, and amphibians. Learn about the vital work of Aark, from wildlife rehabilitation to conservation efforts. Hear the unique stories of Aark’s animal ambassadors, their challenges in the wild, and how they ended up in the rehab center. Discover fascinating insights into their natural history and the importance of protecting these remarkable creatures and their habitats.
